The Elusive Mid Level Candidate

It seems to me that finding mid level candidates is becoming increasingly more difficult, especially for technology searches. I can still find senior level people... but that elusive 2 - 3 year person with SQL Server 2005 development skills or that extremely customer service oriented help desk analyst are no longer out there and just not reproducing to meet the current demand. (Don't even get me started on the Java Developer with .NET, AJAX, SOAP and PostgresSQL;) I've tried all the local watering holes to no avail... so now I'm going blogging. Any suggestions?

2007 - The Year of Wireless

It looks like 2007 is going to be the Year of Wireless and now it’s time to look for RF Engineers… we started a new project in the North Dallas, Plano, Richardson area for a company that makes RF Microprocessors. They have multiple openings for senior RF Engineers including; systems architects, designers, post sales engineers, systems and integration test, firmware, windows driver developers, and analog/mixed signal layout designers. They are also looking for extremely experienced, hands on managers for several departments. The company focuses on wireless applications for consumer products and is actively interviewing, currently hiring for all of these positions. They anticipate major growth in 2007, especially in the areas of software development for wireless products. SaaS Professional Services Consultant

We have a new client in Far North Dallas who is looking for a Professional Services Consultant. They are a start up with just over 50 employees and actually need 3 people... one for the back web portion (VB and ASP), one for the VC++ portion (no C# yet), and one for data warehousing and business intelligence piece. Anyone with video streaming or content delivery will be a big plus.

They have a software product that provides content delivery solutions on a SaaS model. Their clients use the product for corporate communications marketing, IT support delivery, HR benefits information, learning management and sales training. The primary focus of the job is software implementation... the breakdown is 50% project work, 30% pre-sales consultant, and 20% customer liaison. Travel could go up to 50% but they are estimating 30% now. Good base salary and stock options. Great culture and work environment and the founders are very successful from their former company which they took public and sold.

Who do you know in Organizational Development?

Another challenging position just came across my desk... this one is for an OD engagement manager for a Dallas corporation. They are looking for a senior level OD/OE guru to work with customers in multiple lines of business as well as HR business partners to acquire and retain new customers while increasing the loyalty of existing customers. Their client base consists of over 450 customers in the specialty retailers, petroleum retailers, utilities, supermarkets, and financial services markets.

Who do you know in the IPTV Space?

Here is what I'm working on this month:

IPTV client... product is a video encoder. They are in the web 2.0 space selling specialty video applications into companies like YouTube, MySpace, Disney and and Fox Interactive as well as MobiTV, GoTV and MediaFlo. We need 3 Account Directors for three different channels... Broadcast/Studio, User Gen. Content (storage), and Mobile. They are also looking for a Field Applications Engineer. They company's HQ is in DFW and they would prefer the candidates to be based here. I would imagine the sales folks will spend most of their time between LA and NY.


Start up in Plano, TX is looking for a Product Manager with enterprise software as well as online/hosted software experience. The product is a Linux programmer’s tool and they are targeting the IT industry for SaaS and Open Source offerings. Exciting product!
